DEsign III
The purpose of this design project is to use engineering principles to create a planar truss. I designed my own truss using a truss analyzing software. Upon designing a truss with a high load to failure and low material length, I constructed my final design. The completed truss was tested for actual load to failure. This data was used to determine the strength to weight of the actual truss, and then compared to the theoretical strength to weight. Data from testing reveals key information about why the truss did, or did not, do well. My truss preformed close to the theoretical failing load, however through analysis it was determined construction errors may have prevented the truss from performing even better.
